Onshore Wind 2.5MW – (XV90)

Third generation Direct Drive Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) technology builds on the lessons learned from earlier Dutch developments such as the 50 meter rotordiameter LW50 (which have been in continuous operation with original components since 1996) and later versions such as the LW52 and the 2MW Zephyros Turbine.

XEMC VWEC’s design and engineering team were closely involved with the earlier generations of Direct Drive PMG technology. A vast body of know-how and know-why has been built up over the past three decades and forms the most solid foundation for the integrity of the XV90 wind turbine design.

The 90 m diameter 2500 kW XV90 wind turbine is developed according to IEC 61400 wind turbine design class IIIA/IIB (average annual wind speed of 7.5 m/s with a turbulence level of 16% or average annual wind speed of 8.5 m/s with a turbulence level of 16%). The design (technical) lifetime is at least 20 years.

The turbine is characterized by a direct driven multi-pole synchronous permanent magnet generator (PMDD) which is fully integrated in the structural design
